Our honeymoon in Bali was filled with incredible experiences, but two adventures with Bali Local Tour Guide became the absolute highlights of our trip. We booked both the Mount Batur Sunrise Trek and the Sekumpul Waterfall Tour on separate days, and both exceeded every expectation we had.

One person who truly made our holiday unforgettable was our wonderful driver, Dewa.

We trusted him so much that after changing hotels during our honeymoon, we specifically requested Dewa to be our driver again. That says everything about how wonderful he was.
A Magical Sunrise on Mount Batur
Our first adventure was the famous Mount Batur Sunrise Trek.
The climb itself was moderately challenging but very achievable with a reasonable level of fitness. Thankfully, our local mountain guide was incredibly patient and encouraging, allowing everyone to walk comfortably at their own pace while sharing interesting information about the volcano and surrounding landscape.
Reaching the summit before sunrise was an unforgettable experience.
Although the morning was initially cloudy, nature rewarded us with perfect timing. Just as the sun began to rise, the clouds slowly parted, revealing an incredible sunrise with magnificent views of Mount Agung standing proudly in the distance.
Watching the first golden light illuminate Bali from above the clouds was truly magical.
One of the unique traditions on Mount Batur is cooking breakfast using the volcano’s natural steam vents. Sitting at the summit while enjoying freshly prepared banana sandwiches and hard-boiled eggs cooked in volcanic steam made the experience even more memorable.
To make the morning even more enjoyable, a group of playful monkeys wandered around the summit, adding another unforgettable touch to an already incredible adventure.
On the drive back, Dewa surprised us again by stopping at the famous Tegallalang Rice Terraces, giving us the opportunity to admire one of Bali’s most iconic landscapes before returning to our hotel.
Discovering the Beauty of Sekumpul Waterfalls
A few days later, we joined another unforgettable adventure—the Sekumpul Waterfall Tour.
Accompanied by another excellent local guide, we descended through lush plantations and tropical rainforest to reach what is widely considered one of Bali’s most spectacular waterfalls.
The towering cascades of Sekumpul were simply breathtaking.
Our guide patiently explained the surrounding nature, helped us safely navigate the trails, and even treated us to one of the sweetest surprises of the day—fresh, delicious passion fruit picked locally. It was one of the tastiest fruits we had during our entire stay in Bali.
The adventure continued with a visit to see a Luwak, where we learned about Bali’s famous coffee production and had the opportunity to taste freshly prepared local coffee.
For lunch, we travelled to Lovina, where we enjoyed an incredibly fresh seafood meal overlooking the beautiful coastline. The quality of the food was outstanding and provided the perfect opportunity to relax after the morning’s trek.
One of the most meaningful experiences of the day came afterwards, when Dewa took us to visit a local Balinese family in North Bali.
Being welcomed into their home gave us an authentic insight into daily village life that few tourists ever experience. We spent time talking with the family, learning about their traditions, and seeing how they live. It was a genuine cultural experience that became one of the most treasured memories of our honeymoon.
