When most people think of Bali, they imagine beaches, temples, and rice terraces. But hidden away in the cool highlands of Bedugul lies another side of the island—ancient rainforest, peaceful volcanic lakes, and some of the most beautiful jungle scenery in Bali.
My friend and I decided to experience this hidden paradise by joining the 3-Hour Twin Lakes Jungle Trekking Tour with Bali Local Tour Guide, and it became one of the highlights of our holiday.
From the excellent customer service to the breathtaking scenery, everything was thoughtfully organised from beginning to end.
Outstanding Service Before the Tour Even Began
One thing that impressed us immediately was the professionalism of the Bali Jungle Trekking team.
From our very first email inquiry until the day of the tour, communication was fast, friendly, and extremely helpful.
Every question we asked was answered promptly, making the booking process simple and completely stress-free.
Knowing everything had been arranged before we even arrived gave us great confidence that we had chosen the right company.
Well Prepared for the Adventure
When we met our local guide, we immediately felt welcomed.
Before starting the trek, we were provided with everything we needed, including trekking equipment, bottled drinking water, and fresh fruit for the journey.
The juicy oranges were especially refreshing during the hike and were a thoughtful touch that we really appreciated.
These small details reflected the professionalism and care that Bali Jungle Trekking puts into every tour.
Discovering Bali’s Hidden Rainforest
As we entered the jungle surrounding Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, we were amazed by the scenery.
Before this trip, we had no idea that Bali was home to such a beautiful tropical rainforest.
Towering ancient trees, hanging vines, dense vegetation, and the peaceful sounds of birds created an atmosphere that felt completely different from the busy tourist areas in the south of the island.
Walking through this untouched forest felt like stepping into another world.
Learning About Bedugul and the Twin Lakes
Our guide was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable.
Throughout the trek, he shared fascinating information about the Bedugul highlands, the history of the Twin Lakes, the surrounding rainforest, local wildlife, and the important cultural role these sacred lakes play in Balinese life.
Rather than simply hiking through the forest, we gained a much deeper appreciation for the natural and spiritual significance of this beautiful region.
The stories made every part of the journey even more meaningful.
A Comfortable Trek for Most Visitors
Before joining the tour, we expected the hike to be much more difficult.
In reality, the trail was very manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
There were a few slippery sections, especially after rain, and I quickly realised that wearing proper hiking shoes would have made the experience much easier.
The jungle paths can become muddy in places, so good footwear is definitely recommended.
Even so, the trek remained enjoyable and never felt overwhelming.
The Magical Canoe Ride Across Lake Tamblingan
Without question, the highlight of the entire adventure was crossing Lake Tamblingan in a traditional wooden canoe.
As we stepped onto the calm lake, a gentle mist drifted across the water, creating an almost mystical atmosphere.
The surrounding rainforest reflected perfectly on the still surface of the lake, while the cool mountain air made everything feel incredibly peaceful.
The silence was unforgettable.
There were no crowds, no traffic, and no distractions—only the sounds of nature and the rhythmic movement of the canoe across one of Bali’s most sacred lakes.
It was one of the most beautiful moments of our entire holiday.
A Different Side of Bali
This experience showed us a side of Bali that many travellers never get to see.
Instead of beaches and busy tourist attractions, we discovered ancient rainforest, volcanic lakes, rich local history, and breathtaking natural beauty.
The combination of jungle trekking, cultural insight, and peaceful canoeing created an adventure that was both relaxing and inspiring.
