The Best Trekking Ever — An Unforgettable Sambangan Long Trek

The Best Trekking Ever — An Unforgettable Sambangan Long Trek

By – Mariana S

We were looking for an adventure that would take us beyond the usual tourist experiences in Bali, and the Sambangan Long Trekking turned out to be one of the most amazing experiences of our lives.

From the moment our driver picked us up at our hotel in Ubud, everything was perfectly organized. He arrived with perfect timing and immediately made us feel comfortable.

A Professional Driver and a Journey Through Bali

The drive from Ubud to Sambangan took around two hours, but the journey itself became part of the experience.

Our driver was an amazing and professional person. During the drive, he explained so much about Balinese culture, giving us an interesting introduction to the island before we even started the trek.

We were very happy to meet him, and his professionalism continued throughout the entire day.

After completing the Sambangan Long Trek, he drove us all the way to the airport — another four-hour journey — and was still just as friendly and professional.

During the drive, we had more time to talk and get to know each other. He even stopped at a local restaurant to share a meal with us, which was a wonderful and unexpected personal touch.

The Sambangan Long Trek — Challenging but Worth Every Effort

The Sambangan Tour was not easy. The trekking was a little bit hard, but every effort was completely worth it.

The adventure took us deep into the beautiful nature of Sambangan, where we discovered an incredible eight waterfalls.

What made the experience even more special was that five of the waterfalls were completely off the beaten track. These hidden waterfalls gave us the feeling of discovering places that most visitors never get to see.

At each waterfall, our guide waited for us so that we could take our time, enjoy the surroundings, and swim in the natural pools.

Discovering Seven Waterfalls

Seeing eight waterfalls in one trek was an incredible experience.

The five off-the-beaten-track waterfalls were particularly memorable. They felt wild, peaceful, and untouched, making the long trek feel like a genuine adventure rather than a standard sightseeing tour.

Being able to stop and swim at the waterfalls made the experience even more enjoyable and gave us time to appreciate the spectacular surroundings.

More Than Just a Jungle Trek

What made this experience truly special was that it was much more than simply walking through the jungle.

Our guide and his girlfriend were very kind and open-minded, and we had fascinating conversations about nature, culture, and life throughout the journey.

It became a genuine human experience, where we were able to connect with our guides and learn about Bali from a local perspective.

Our guide showed us different trees and plants, the rice plantations, and traditional local houses along the way.

He didn’t simply guide us from one waterfall to another — he helped us understand the landscape and the people who live there.

Meeting Local People

One of the most memorable moments was stopping at a local Balinese house.

We had the opportunity to talk with the local people and experience their hospitality. We were also offered fresh coconut water, which was incredibly refreshing after trekking through the jungle.

This simple moment gave us a wonderful glimpse into authentic Balinese village life.

It was these personal encounters, together with the waterfalls and jungle scenery, that made the Sambangan Long Trek so much more meaningful.
