A Magical Jungle Trekking & Canoe Adventure on Lake Tamblingan

Discovering Bali’s Hidden Jungle with Putu

We had the most magical and beautiful experience exploring the jungle around Lake Tamblingan with our amazing local guide, Putu. From the moment we started the trek, it felt like we were discovering a completely different side of Bali—peaceful, natural, and far away from the busy tourist areas.

The jungle was incredibly beautiful, with lush tropical vegetation, ancient trees, and a peaceful atmosphere all around us. What made the experience even more special was having a local guide who could explain the things we were seeing along the way.

Putu shared his knowledge of the jungle, the plants, the surrounding environment, and the local area, making the trek much more than simply walking through the forest.

A Young Guide Who Made the Experience Special

Putu was an intern at the time, and we were actually his first Australian guests. Despite this, he did an amazing job and made us feel comfortable throughout the entire experience.

He was friendly, enthusiastic, and happy to share his knowledge with us. His passion for the jungle and his willingness to explain everything we encountered made the trek feel personal and authentic.

Having a local guide like Putu really made a difference. Instead of simply following a trail, we were able to understand more about the environment and experience the jungle through the eyes of someone who knows the area.

Exploring the Jungle Around Lake Tamblingan

The trek itself was a wonderful opportunity to experience the natural beauty of North Bali. Walking through the lush jungle, listening to the sounds of nature, and discovering the peaceful surroundings created a very different experience from the usual Bali sightseeing tours.

The trail was not overly challenging, although there were a few muddy and slippery sections because of the rain. For us, these little challenges were simply part of the adventure and made the experience even more memorable.

Canoeing Across Lake Tamblingan

After exploring the jungle, we continued our adventure with a traditional canoe ride across Lake Tamblingan.

The lake was incredibly peaceful, surrounded by green mountains and dense rainforest. Gliding across the water in a traditional canoe gave us another perspective of this beautiful part of Bali.

And then came the rain.

When the Rain Made It Even More Magical

The rain started toward the end of our canoe ride, but rather than ruining the experience, it actually made everything feel even more magical.

The peaceful lake, the surrounding jungle, and the falling rain created an atmosphere that was difficult to describe. It felt like a very authentic moment in nature—something that would be impossible to recreate on a typical tourist tour.

It became one of those unexpected moments that we will remember from our time in Bali.

More Than Just a Trek

What made this experience so memorable was the combination of jungle trekking, local knowledge, nature, and traditional canoeing.

It was not simply a walk through the forest or a boat ride across a lake. The experience allowed us to slow down, explore Bali’s natural environment, and learn from someone who knows the area.

Putu’s friendly personality and local knowledge were a big part of what made the day so enjoyable.

Highly Recommended

We would definitely recommend this Lake Tamblingan Jungle Trekking and Canoe Experience, especially to travelers who want to experience a quieter and more natural side of Bali.

The trek is not too challenging, although you should be prepared for some muddy and slippery sections, especially after rain. Comfortable trekking shoes are definitely recommended.
