A Genuine Village Experience
By – Thomas Tan
We had a wonderful time exploring Mayong Village and experiencing a more authentic and peaceful side of Bali. Instead of simply visiting the usual tourist attractions, we really enjoyed the opportunity to walk through the village, cross the rice fields, and see how local people live their everyday lives.
What made the experience particularly special was the warm hospitality of the villagers. Everyone we met made us feel very welcome, and there was something genuinely heartwarming about being able to interact with the local community in such a natural and relaxed environment.
It felt like we were not just visiting a destination, but actually getting a small glimpse into real Balinese village life.
Walking Through Rice Fields & Local Landscapes
One of the highlights for us was walking across the beautiful rice fields surrounding the village. The walk was relatively easy, so we could take our time and enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed or physically exhausted.
We really appreciated this type of slow-paced outdoor experience, where the journey itself was just as enjoyable as the destination. Walking through the countryside allowed us to observe the surroundings, enjoy the fresh atmosphere, and appreciate the peaceful rhythm of rural Bali.
Seeing Traditional Rice Harvesting
It was especially interesting to see how rice is harvested and to learn more about the role rice farming plays in the daily lives of local people.
Being able to witness these activities firsthand gave us a much better understanding of Balinese agriculture and traditional village life. It was fascinating to see something that is such an important part of the local community rather than simply hearing about it from a distance.
For us, these authentic details made the experience much more meaningful.
Tasting Fresh Local Fruits
Another lovely part of the experience was getting the chance to taste local fruits grown in the area.
We enjoyed being able to try fresh, locally grown produce while exploring the village. It added another authentic element to the experience and gave us a chance to connect with the local environment in a very simple and enjoyable way.
We particularly liked experiences where we can see, taste, and experience things locally, rather than simply passing through a destination.
