Some tours show you beautiful places, while others allow you to truly experience the soul of Bali. Our Jungle and Waterfalls Combination Trekking Tour with Bali Local Tour Guide was exactly that—an unforgettable journey through ancient rainforest, sacred temples, hidden waterfalls, and breathtaking mountain scenery that became one of the highlights of our entire holiday.
Our adventure began in the morning as we met our friendly driver, Suta Saya, who ensured everything ran smoothly from the very beginning. Throughout the day he handled every transfer perfectly, always arriving on time and making each journey comfortable. His cheerful personality and genuine hospitality immediately made us feel welcome.
At the trailhead we met our local guide, Ketut, whose passion for the rainforest was obvious from the very first step. Before entering the jungle, he introduced us to the history of the Twin Lakes region and explained why Lake Tamblingan is considered one of Bali’s most sacred natural areas.
The trek began beneath the towering canopy of an ancient tropical rainforest that surrounds Lake Tamblingan. Walking along quiet forest trails, we passed enormous ficus trees, hanging vines, moss-covered rocks, and countless native plants while listening to birds singing high above us. Ketut shared fascinating stories about the jungle ecosystem, medicinal plants, wildlife, and the spiritual importance of the forest to the local Balinese communities.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the morning was the incredible sense of peace.
Despite visiting during Bali’s busy holiday season, we hardly encountered another visitor. For much of the trek, it felt as though we had the entire rainforest completely to ourselves. That feeling of solitude made the experience even more magical, allowing us to fully appreciate the untouched beauty and silence of the ancient jungle.
As we continued walking around the shoreline of Lake Tamblingan, we arrived at a small sacred temple hidden among the trees. Ketut explained the temple’s role in local ceremonies and how the surrounding forest is protected because of its spiritual significance. Standing beside the peaceful lakeshore, surrounded by ancient rainforest, we gained a much deeper appreciation for the close relationship between Balinese culture and nature.
Soon afterwards, we reached the lake itself, where a traditional wooden canoe was waiting.
Crossing the calm waters of Lake Tamblingan was one of the most memorable moments of the day. The lake was perfectly still, reflecting the surrounding mountains and rainforest like a mirror. With only the gentle sound of the paddle moving through the water, the canoe ride created an atmosphere of complete peace and tranquility.
On the opposite shore stood a much larger lakeside temple, adding another fascinating cultural highlight to the journey. The setting was simply breathtaking and perfectly illustrated why this region is considered one of Bali’s most sacred and beautiful landscapes.
After completing the lake crossing, Suta Saya was waiting to take us to the next stage of the adventure.
The afternoon continued with another scenic trek through lush tropical forest toward several beautiful hidden waterfalls. Each waterfall offered something unique, from dramatic cascades and crystal-clear pools to peaceful jungle surroundings that invited us to stop, relax, and enjoy nature.
By the end of the walk we had experienced an incredible variety of landscapes in a single day—ancient rainforest, sacred temples, tranquil lakes, traditional canoeing, and spectacular waterfalls.
To finish the adventure, we enjoyed a delicious lunch at a local restaurant overlooking both Lake Tamblingan and the neighboring Lake Buyan. The panoramic views were absolutely stunning, providing the perfect setting to relax after an active day in nature. As we enjoyed authentic Balinese cuisine while looking out across the Twin Lakes, we reflected on what had been one of the most rewarding experiences of our trip.
Looking back, what made this tour truly exceptional was not only the extraordinary scenery but also the people who made it possible.
Ketut was an outstanding guide whose knowledge, enthusiasm, and love for the rainforest brought every part of the journey to life. Meanwhile, Suta Saya worked tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring every transfer was perfectly coordinated and every part of the day flowed effortlessly.
Their professionalism, kindness, and genuine hospitality transformed a beautiful tour into an unforgettable experience.
To Ketut, Suta Saya, and the entire Bali Jungle Trekking team, thank you for giving us one of the best days of our Bali holiday.
If you are looking for an experience that combines pristine rainforest, sacred temples, peaceful canoeing, spectacular waterfalls, breathtaking mountain scenery, and authentic Balinese hospitality—all away from the crowds—we cannot recommend the Jungle and Waterfalls Combination Trekking Tour highly enough. It is an adventure that truly reveals the natural and spiritual heart of Bali.
