Our visit to Sekumpul Waterfalls was one of the highlights of our time in Bali, and a big shout out to our tour guide, Dewa, who really made the whole experience special.
Dewa was knowledgeable, passionate and extremely entertaining. The drive to Sekumpul Waterfall took around three hours, but somehow he managed to turn what could have been a long journey into a real adventure. We enjoyed chatting with him along the way and learning more about the local area and Bali.
If you are planning to visit Sekumpul Waterfalls, we would definitely recommend booking a private tour. Having more flexibility and not being tied to strict time constraints made the experience much more enjoyable. We could take our time, enjoy the scenery and spend longer at the waterfall without feeling rushed.
The Sekumpul Waterfall trek itself was an adventure too. There is walking and some fairly challenging terrain, so we were glad to have a local guide with us. Once we reached the waterfalls, the scenery was absolutely beautiful and well worth the effort.
One thing we would definitely recommend is coming prepared. Wear water shoes and a bathing suit underneath your hiking clothes. Bring bug spray, sunscreen, goggles and a towel. The waterfall is very strong, so it can be difficult to face the water without closing your eyes. A water camera is also a great idea if you want to capture the experience while swimming.
One of our favourite moments was when Dewa offered to climb up a big rock to take a photo of us in front of the Sekumpul Waterfalls. It turned out to be a picture we will not forget! We were initially a little hesitant about leaving our belongings behind while swimming, but Dewa kept an eye on everything for us, so we could relax and enjoy the water.
Overall, this was much more than simply visiting a waterfall in Bali. Having a passionate local guide like Dewa made the journey, the trek and the time at the waterfall much more memorable.
If you are considering a Sekumpul Waterfall tour, we would highly recommend choosing a private tour and asking for Dewa. He made our day fun from beginning to end and helped turn our visit to Sekumpul Waterfalls into a real Bali adventure.
