Some trips give you beautiful photographs.
Others leave you with stories that stay with you for a lifetime.
Our 2-Day Jungle Trekking Adventure with Bali Local Tour Guide became exactly that—a journey filled with breathtaking landscapes, incredible local hospitality, unforgettable friendships, and memories that we will treasure forever.
Outstanding Service Before the Adventure Even Began
We booked this adventure to bridge the gap between our stay in Ubud and our next destination in Lovina, hoping to experience a more authentic side of Bali along the way.
From the very first email, the service was exceptional.
Every question we asked was answered promptly by Dika, who was incredibly helpful throughout the booking process. A few days before our departure, he contacted us with some unfortunate news. Due to an accident involving one of their guides, our original itinerary—which included camping on the first night—could no longer be arranged.
What impressed us most was how professionally the situation was handled.
Rather than cancelling the tour, Dika had already organised an alternative itinerary and even upgraded the second day’s program at no additional cost to compensate for the inconvenience.
That level of customer care immediately showed us how much the team genuinely values their guests.
Day One – Climbing Mount Lesung
Our adventure began at 5:30 AM, when our driver, Molik, collected us from our homestay in Ubud.
From the moment we met him, he made us feel completely comfortable. Friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable, Molik shared stories about Bali throughout the drive while ensuring we travelled safely into the cool mountain region of North Bali.
About halfway through the journey, we stopped at a small roadside warung for breakfast. Fresh coffee and warm banana bread never tasted so good, especially knowing that a challenging mountain trek awaited us.
Soon afterwards we arrived at the foot of Mount Lesung, where we met our trekking guide, Moyo.
Moyo was an absolute character.
His great sense of humour kept us smiling throughout the climb, even during the most demanding sections of the trail.
The trek took us through dense tropical rainforest, where enormous trees, tangled vines, and birdsong surrounded us as we steadily climbed toward the summit at 1,865 metres above sea level.
Although physically challenging, every step was rewarded with incredible scenery.
Reaching the sacred temple at the summit felt like a real achievement.
After taking time to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and spectacular mountain views, we descended through another section of untouched rainforest toward the tranquil shores of Lake Buyan.
There, another unforgettable experience awaited us.
We climbed into a traditional wooden canoe and quietly paddled across the peaceful lake.
Surrounded by rainforest and complete silence, it felt as though the outside world had completely disappeared.
Waiting for us on the opposite shore was Molik, who had once again arrived exactly where we needed him.
Lunch that day was a delicious plate of traditional Nasi Goreng, enjoyed beside the lakeside temple while reflecting on the incredible morning we’d just experienced.
Hidden Waterfalls of Munduk
The adventure continued into the beautiful hills surrounding Munduk Village.
Compared with the mountain climb, this afternoon trek was much gentler, allowing us to simply enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Our guide for this section, Gede, was friendly, patient, and incredibly considerate.
Knowing we had already completed a demanding mountain hike, he happily adjusted the pace whenever we wanted to stop, rest, or simply admire the beautiful waterfalls hidden among the rainforest.
Each waterfall had its own unique charm, and the peaceful jungle setting made the entire walk wonderfully relaxing.
An Evening with a Balinese Family
That evening brought one of the most meaningful experiences of our entire trip.
After completing the day’s adventures, Molik drove us to Gobleg Village, where we would spend the night in the home of Agus, another member of the Bali Jungle Trekking family.
Rather than staying in a hotel, we were welcomed into a genuine Balinese family home.
From the moment we arrived, Agus and his family treated us as though we were old friends.
After a long day of trekking, they invited us to shower before preparing one of the most delicious meals we had during our entire holiday.
Freshly grilled fish, homemade sambal, warm rice, and freshly brewed Balinese coffee were shared around the family table while conversations flowed late into the evening.
Sitting together with Agus, Molik, and the family, laughing, sharing stories, and learning about village life became one of those priceless travel experiences that no luxury hotel could ever replace.
It was authentic, generous, and unforgettable.
Day Two – Into Bali’s Sacred Jungle
The following morning began with another incredible homemade breakfast prepared by Agus and his family.
After saying our goodbyes, we met our final guide, Made, for the last stage of our adventure.
This trek led us deep into one of Bali’s sacred rainforests.
The trail was considerably more rugged than the previous day’s walk, with steep jungle paths, slippery rocks, and river crossings made even more challenging by heavy tropical rain.
At times, the rain became absolutely torrential.
But somehow, it only added to the adventure.
Throughout the trek, Made remained calm, encouraging, and always attentive to our safety.
Whenever we encountered difficult sections, he patiently offered a helping hand and ensured we felt completely comfortable before continuing.
His knowledge of the rainforest was extraordinary.
He introduced us to medicinal plants, enormous tropical trees, jungle wildlife, and the cultural significance of the sacred temple hidden deep within the forest.
Every part of the journey became an opportunity to learn something new.
Despite the challenging conditions, the trek remained one of the most enjoyable experiences of our holiday.
More Than Guides—True Ambassadors of Bali
Looking back, what made these two days truly extraordinary wasn’t only the mountains, lakes, waterfalls, or rainforest.
It was the people.
Every member of the Bali Jungle Trekking team shared something far more valuable than an itinerary.
They shared their home.
Their love for Bali, pride in their culture, deep respect for nature, and genuine desire to introduce visitors to the island they cherish could be felt in every conversation and every experience.
A heartfelt thank you to Dika, Molik, Moyo, Gede, Made, Agus, and Agus’s wonderful family.
Because of your kindness, generosity, and passion, we experienced a side of Bali that very few visitors ever have the privilege to see.
You gave us memories that will stay with us forever.
An Adventure We Wholeheartedly Recommend
If you’re looking for more than just sightseeing—if you want to experience Bali’s mountains, lakes, waterfalls, villages, forests, traditions, and the incredible hospitality of its people—then this two-day adventure is an experience not to be missed.
Bali Jungle Trekking doesn’t simply organise tours.
They create meaningful journeys that connect people with the true heart of Bali.
For us, these weren’t just two days of trekking.
They became two days that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
