Today, 15 August 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming a wonderful group of 18 guests from Supernova Italia for a special and carefully designed experience in the northern highlands of Bali.
As a Local Guide in Bali, we wanted to create something different from the usual Banyumala Waterfalls visit. Instead of simply driving to the parking area and taking the short 10–15 minute walk down to the waterfall, we designed a more authentic trekking route that allows our guests to discover the beautiful countryside and local farming communities along the way.
🌿 Starting the Day in Bedugul
Our journey began at 8:30 AM in Bedugul, surrounded by Bali’s cool mountain air and beautiful highland scenery.
Before starting the trek, we made a stop at the famous Handara Gate, one of the most recognizable photo spots in the Bedugul area. The group had time to take photos and enjoy the beautiful mountain atmosphere before continuing toward Gobleg Village.
At around 11:00 AM, we began our trekking adventure.
🚶 Trekking Through Gobleg Village
Rather than taking the conventional route to Banyumala Waterfalls, we started our trek from Gobleg Village.
This route takes us through the heart of Bali’s agricultural countryside, where visitors can see how local communities live and work among the mountains.
The majority of local people in this area work as farmers, cultivating a wide variety of crops. Along the trail, we passed through plantations and farming areas where we could see:
- ☕ Coffee
- 🌿 Cloves
- 🍊 Oranges
- 🥬 Various vegetables
- 🌱 Other tropical plants and agricultural crops
Throughout the trek, our local guide explained the farming traditions, local plants, seasonal crops, and everyday life of the communities living in the area.
This made the walk much more than simply a trek through nature. It became an opportunity to understand local Balinese life, agriculture, and the relationship between the people and their land.
💦 The Surprise: Banyumala Waterfalls
After approximately 1.5 hours of trekking, we finally arrived at Banyumala Waterfalls.
For our guests, the waterfall became a wonderful surprise after the journey through the countryside.
Instead of arriving by car and walking directly from the parking area, our guests had already experienced the landscape, villages, farms, plantations, and local life before suddenly discovering the beautiful waterfall hidden among the tropical forest.
The moment of reaching Banyumala made the journey feel even more rewarding.
Surrounded by lush greenery and cascading water, the waterfall provided the perfect place to relax after the trek.
Our guests had plenty of time to swim in the refreshing natural pool, relax, enjoy the scenery, and take their best photographs to capture memories of the experience.
🍛 Local Lunch Experience
After enjoying Banyumala Waterfalls, we continued with another special part of the experience: lunch at a local resident’s home.
Rather than having lunch at a standard tourist restaurant, we wanted our guests to experience something more personal and authentic.
Enjoying a meal at a local home gave the group the opportunity to experience a simple Balinese local lunch, surrounded by the atmosphere of everyday village life.
For us, this is an important part of responsible and authentic tourism — allowing our guests to not only see Bali, but also experience the people, food, culture, and hospitality of the local community.
🌴 More Than Just a Waterfall Visit
Today’s experience was designed around one simple idea:
The journey should be just as memorable as the destination.
Banyumala Waterfalls can be reached relatively easily from its parking area, but our route allowed the Supernova Italia group to discover a completely different side of Bali.
They walked through a traditional village, explored agricultural landscapes, learned about local farming, met the countryside through the eyes of a local guide, and finally reached the waterfall as a rewarding surprise.
This is the kind of experience we love to create as Local Guides in Bali — combining nature, trekking, agriculture, local culture, food, and authentic community experiences into one meaningful journey.
