When visiting Bali, many travellers head straight for the famous beaches and temples. We wanted something different—an opportunity to experience Bali’s lush rainforest, learn about its incredible biodiversity, and discover waterfalls hidden deep within the mountains.

From the moment we were picked up in Lovina until the end of the trek, every part of the day was perfectly organised and filled with unforgettable moments.
A Scenic Journey to the Highlands
Our adventure began with a comfortable morning pickup from Lovina, followed by a scenic drive into the cool mountain region of Munduk.
As we climbed higher into the hills, the tropical coastline gradually gave way to dense rainforest, traditional villages, and rolling plantations. The fresh mountain air and spectacular scenery immediately created a sense of excitement for the adventure ahead.

We were welcomed by our local guide, Melly, whose passion for nature became obvious from the very beginning.

Much of the route followed well-maintained plantation paths, making the walk comfortable while still allowing us to experience the beauty of the surrounding jungle.
Every few minutes, Melly would stop to introduce us to another tropical plant growing along the trail.

One of the highlights of the day was Melly’s incredible knowledge of the local environment.
She seemed able to identify every plant we encountered.
We learned about tropical fruits growing in the plantations, coffee trees producing Bali’s famous coffee beans, fragrant spices such as cloves and cinnamon, medicinal herbs, colourful flowers, vegetables, and many other native plants.
Each explanation helped us better understand how closely nature is connected to everyday life in rural Bali.
It felt like walking through a living botanical garden guided by someone who genuinely loved sharing her knowledge.
Conversations Beyond the Trail
The experience wasn’t only about plants and waterfalls.
As we walked together, Melly shared fascinating stories about Balinese culture, local traditions, village life, and the daily routines of farming families living in the highlands.
These conversations gave us a much deeper appreciation for the island beyond its tourist attractions.
Learning directly from a local guide made the experience feel authentic, personal, and incredibly rewarding.
Three Beautiful Waterfalls
The main highlights of the trek were the magnificent waterfalls hidden throughout the Munduk rainforest.
During the tour, we visited three different waterfalls, each offering its own unique beauty.
The first waterfall welcomed us with peaceful surroundings and crystal-clear mountain water.
Further along the trail, the scenery became even more dramatic as larger waterfalls emerged from the dense tropical forest.
With each stop, the waterfalls seemed to become even more spectacular than the last.
Towering cascades, lush green cliffs, cool mist, and the sound of rushing water created a magical atmosphere that perfectly captured the natural beauty of North Bali.
Each waterfall had its own personality, making every stop feel like discovering another hidden treasure.
A Perfect Blend of Nature and Culture
What made this tour so enjoyable was its perfect balance between sightseeing and learning.
Instead of simply visiting waterfalls, we gained a deeper understanding of Bali’s rainforest ecosystem, agricultural traditions, and local culture.
The trek was relaxed, educational, and suitable for anyone who enjoys spending time in nature without undertaking an overly strenuous hike.
