What Can You See Along the Nusa Dua Trail?

One of the advantages of exploring Nusa Dua on foot is that the experience is not only about reaching one destination.

The walk allows you to experience different sides of the area, from beaches and coastal scenery to Balinese cultural sites and dramatic ocean viewpoints.

1. Geger Beach

Geger Beach is one of the most attractive places to begin exploring the southern Nusa Dua coastline.

The beach provides a relaxing starting point before continuing along the coastal area.

Take some time to enjoy the scenery, especially in the morning when the temperature is more comfortable for walking.

2. Pura Geger

Near Geger Beach you can find Pura Geger Beach, a Balinese temple overlooking the coastline.

This is one of the places where a simple beach walk becomes a cultural experience.

If you visit a temple, remember that it is a sacred place. Dress respectfully and follow any local rules regarding access.

3. Nusa Dua Beaches and Coastal Walk

Continue your walk through the coastal area of Nusa Dua.

The coastline provides a very different experience from walking through the busy streets of southern Bali. You can enjoy the ocean, tropical landscape and resort coastline while moving between different sections of the beach.

This part of the route is particularly enjoyable in the early morning or later afternoon.

4. Peninsula and Coastal Area

As you continue toward the peninsula, the scenery becomes more focused on the coastline and ocean.

Take your time here rather than treating the route as a race. One of the purposes of a self-guided walking trail is to allow you to stop whenever you find an interesting view.

This is also a good section for photography.

5. Waterblow

One of the most recognizable natural attractions in Nusa Dua is Waterblow.

Here, waves from the Indian Ocean hit the rocky coastline and can create dramatic splashes.

Waterblow works well as one of the final points of a walking route because it gives the walk a memorable coastal destination.

When Is the Best Time to Walk?

For most visitors, early morning or late afternoon is more comfortable than walking during the strongest midday heat.

Early morning

A morning walk can provide cooler temperatures and softer light for photography.

Late afternoon

The later part of the day can be particularly pleasant for coastal scenery and photography.

If you are planning to walk for several hours, bring enough drinking water and protect yourself from the sun.

What Should You Bring?

You don’t need special hiking equipment for an easy coastal walking route, but a few things will make the experience more comfortable:

  • Comfortable walking shoes or sandals
  • Drinking water
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat or sun protection
  • Sunglasses
  • Phone with the map available
  • Camera if you enjoy photography

If you plan to spend time on the beach, you may also want to bring swimwear and a small towel.

Is the Nusa Dua Trail Suitable for Families?

The easier sections of the Nusa Dua coastal area can be suitable for many travelers, including couples and families.

However, conditions can change depending on the weather, waves and the exact section of coastline you are walking.

Parents should keep children close around rocky coastal areas and near the ocean.

Self-Guided Doesn’t Mean You Have to Rush

One of the best things about exploring Bali independently is having the freedom to decide how much time you want to spend at each place.

You can complete the walk relatively quickly, or turn it into a relaxed half-day exploration.

Stop for a coffee.

Take photographs.

Explore the beach.

Visit a cultural site.

Watch the ocean.

The route is yours to explore.
